In this special project, based on a van with a total weight of 5 tons, we made an energy-independent functional vehicle, a mobile library or as some call it — a bookmobile.
This mobile library has a total of 53 bookshelves with a width of 575 mm, placed at an angle to enable the safe transport of books. For additional safety, all shelves have drawers with safety mechanisms.
The library space is also equipped with a folding desk for laptops and two stools that can be used as book storage.
Strong lights and a roof window installed in the library area ensure enough light for reading.
The interior space is also equipped with fans for exhausting indoor air and supplying fresh outdoor air, as well as an air conditioner with an external power supply. An exhaust for warm air created by an independent heater is placed under the bookshelves.
Librarian’s workspace is equipped with a swivel passenger seat and a dedicated folding table.
This mobile library is adjusted for people with disabilities with the help of two telescopic ramps that allow easy entry for people in wheelchairs.
When the weather allows it, the awning placed next to the entrance of the bookmobile turns this vehicle into a perfect open-air mini-library protected from the sunlight.
All electrical devices are powered by an independent battery — rechargeable while driving or through the main electrical grid — which makes this vehicle energy-independent.
