The upgrade for the transport of explosive substances is carried out on the basis of the Agreement on the International Transport of Dangerous Substances in Road Traffic, or ADR for short.
Only EX/II, EX/III, FL, AL and MEMU type vehicles can receive an ADR certificate, and they are precisely defined by the previously mentioned Agreement.
In the following text, you will be able to understand what is considered an EX/III type of vehicle that we upgraded and what exactly we did in this upgrade.
ADR EX/II VEHICLES
A vehicle intended for the transport of explosive substances and objects in bulk is considered a category EX/III vehicle.
Explosive substances and objects filled with explosives are considered to be one of the thirteen classes of dangerous substances, and it is further divided into six subgroups.

In order for a vehicle to be classified as a vehicle suitable for transporting explosive substances, it must meet special conditions.
For example, the drive motor must be located in front of or under the cargo space, provided that it does not endanger the safety of the cargo.
It is also necessary to carry out the training of drivers who transport dangerous substances according to special prescribed conditions.
ADR CLASSIFICATION
UPGRADES FOR TRANSPORTATION OF EXPLOSIVE SUBSTANCES
On the base MAN vehicle, an auxiliary steel chassis is installed, on which a chamber for ADR transport, class EX/III, is installed.
The chamber is 4,200 mm long, 2,550 mm wide, and 2,400 mm high.
The chamber walls are actually sandwich panels made of stone wool and polyester laminate.
Additional panels made of fire-resistant MDF, 10 mm thick, are built into them.
The electrical installation was carried out with a separate possibility to control the dimensions, and according to the prescribed conditions.
Internal lighting is not allowed in the chamber, also according to the prescribed conditions.
A D’Hollandia brand loading ramp has been upgraded at the back of the chamber.
The ramp type DHLM.20 has a load capacity of 1,500 kg and contains foot switches on the platform, flags, trolley stoppers and the like.
The aluminum platform is the width of the extension, and the height is 1,800 mm.
