We are proudly presenting the CargoMatic® system for automatic cargo loading and unloading which we recently installed within the logistics center of Jadran Galenski Laboratorij from Rijeka.
CargoMatic® is the lightest and fastest logistics loading/unloading system currently available on the market.
It can withstand a load of 35,000 kg and consists of a mobile part – installed in the truck semi-trailer, and a stationary part – installed in the warehouse. They are both made of identical components and are completely modular, which makes them extremely adaptable to different logistics centers and additional cargo management systems.
The mobile CargoMatic® system has its own control system on the semi-trailer, and the control boxes of both systems can be further expanded with options such as automatic oil lubrication, remote control, and an online interface for fault analysis via mobile phone.
CargoMatic® systems are self-cleaning and are suitable for all types and sizes of pallets and other types of packaging.
They come standard with frequency controllers, and the speed can be adjusted without interruption from 1.5 to 6 meters per minute.
CargoMatic® systems do not require special maintenance. They are easy to connect to already existing installations and can operate independently without the intervention of an operator. Thanks to field detection, the cargo will move independently for a customized forward distance, leaving room for the next row of pallets and wait if there is more space to load the pallets.
The systems are standardly equipped with an industrial 5P, 16A, CEE plug, and a 15P communication plug, making them easy to integrate into existing control systems.
Service points have been set up across Europe.

Mobile CargoMatic® system (in the trailer)
Dimensions (LxWxH), approx. 13,600 x 2,440 x 140 mm, comes as a set and is suitable for installation in a semi-trailer.
Each CargoMatic system consists of:
- 8 heavy transport chains
- 4 conveyor rods with aluminum slats installed between the chains
- 2 drive shafts with bearings
- 1 single drive electric motor (5.5 kW / 400 V / 50 Hz) with a drive shaft and brake
- 1 PLC control unit for load, stop and unload control
The chains move over plastic straps made of hard material which are built into a special aluminum profile. Patented chain protection caps protect the chains from damage, grease and dirt so they cannot contaminate products or pallets. When loading or unloading, the CargoMatic® system is fully controlled via PLC unit. Management is very simple, and the whole process can be followed on the screen.
Content of the mobile drive and control unit composition:
- 1x control box with PLC (S7-1200), supplied with common auxiliary relays and fuses. Switches, signal lamps and a monitor are mounted on the cover
- 1x frequency converter built into the control box that allows continuous adjustment of the speed of the transport track and changes the direction of loading and unloading.
- 1x electric drive motor (5.5 kW / 400 / V-50 Hz)
- 1x double switches (double safety) for automatic start and stop control
- 1x photocells (transmitter and receiver) for pallet detection
The mobile CargoMatic® system comes with three emergency switches – one at hand, one on the control box and one at the front of the semi-trailer.
Under normal operating conditions and with regular chain cleaning and light lubrication, the CargoMatic® system requires no maintenance.
Automatic oil lubrication system for CargoMatic® system
Fully automatic 18-point oil lubrication system. The PLC counts the operating hours of the system and periodically activates the lubrication pump during loading or unloading, so that the chains will be lubricated without any interruption of the automatic logistics process.
Steel wheels for frame positioning
The positioning wheels are mounted on the rear of the semi-trailer floor. Together with a positioning frame attached to the floor in front of the static system, they ensure the precise positioning of the semi-trailer and the stationary part of the system.
The semi-trailer is also partially lifted from the air suspension, so the load has no effect on the floor height of the CargoMatic® semi-trailer.
For safety reasons, one switch is mounted on a positioning frame, making sure that the semi-trailer is indeed present in front of the stationary CargoMatic® system.
Stationary CargoMatic® system (for logistics center)
CargoMatic® stationary system works in tandem with semi-trailers equipped with CargoMatic® mobile systems or other automatic loading/unloading systems to automatically load/unload cargo with an average of 2 minutes for a full load.
Due to the modular design of the CargoMatic® system, many components are interchangeable between mobile and stationary systems.
Content of stationary system operation and management:
- Control box with SIEMENS safety PLC, equipped with standard auxiliary relays and fuses, and voltage-protected contacts.
- SIEMENS Profinet, for signal exchange
- Integrated frequency converter that provides variable speed, fully controlled start and stop. The frequency converter is mounted directly on the motor, so there is no problem with EMC and lack of wiring. In addition, the converter guarantees the safety of the system because it is equipped with so-called “STO” (safe torque off)
- Motor with an encoder that accurately registers floor speed, displacement and position. Parameters are registered and displayed in full color on the touch screen. Loading and unloading speeds can be set independently of each other. You can connect or separate them as desired to prevent cargo damage
- SICK photocells installed in safety-critical positions
- Safety switch for switching on the positioning frame
- HMI, Siemens Touchpanel TP700 – color display with extensive graphical user interface integrated into the RITTAL control cabinet (desktop). The graphical interface is designed with a clear ergonomic menu structure that ensures intuitive system management. The panel displays all relevant system status information, including maintenance history, I/O information, fault diagnosis, etc.
- Extremely strong Heavy Duty chain. Its use results in less maintenance and thus lower operating costs.
The use of a safety PLC, safety sensors, and switching components achieves a PLc safety level and a PLd level for the emergency stop circuit, making CargoMatic® the safest automatic loading and unloading system currently available on the market.
Positioning frame
Positioning wheels mounted on the rear of the semi-trailer, together with a positioning frame fixed below the loading/unloading ramp, ensure that the semi-trailer floor is in line with the floor of the stationary loading/unloading system.
The trailer is lifted from the air suspension so that the load can no longer affect the height of the CargoMatic® transport system of the semi-trailer. For safety reasons, a limit switch is placed on the positioning frame to make sure that the trailer is actually present before starting the load/unload process.
This switch is included in the safety circuit of the PLC control.
